Hialeah Pool Builders provides professional gunite & shotcrete pool construction in Hialeah, FL for residential and commercial properties across Miami-Dade County. Gunite pool construction in Hialeah means cutting a shell out of oolitic limestone and then engineering it against a water table that never stops trying to push it back up. Those two facts drive the price and the design of every custom pool we build here, and any builder who does not raise them on the first visit is going to raise them later as a change order.
Start with the rock. South Florida limestone sits close enough to the surface on most lots that we are sawing and hammering rather than digging. That is normal here, not a disaster, and we price it as a known quantity after we probe the site rather than quoting the easy case and discovering the truth in week two. The second issue is groundwater. A concrete shell is essentially a boat, and when the surrounding water table is higher than the empty pool, the pool wins the argument by floating. Every shell we build gets a hydrostatic relief valve set in the main drain and a proper gravel envelope around the structure, so pressure has somewhere to go. This is not theoretical. Every year in Miami-Dade somebody drains their own pool on a Saturday to clean it and ends up with a cracked shell sitting several inches proud of the deck.
The structural work itself is the same discipline that applies anywhere, done properly. Rebar tied on 12-inch centers into a continuous cage, a thickened bond beam at the top, and concrete placed pneumatically at 4,000 PSI or better so the shell is dense through its full thickness rather than only where the trowel touched it. Dry-mix gunite and wet-mix shotcrete are both valid; which one your site gets depends on access and volume, and we will explain the tradeoff instead of quoting whichever one our truck happens to do. After placement the shell cures wet for about a week, and no, that week cannot be compressed because you have guests coming.
Design is where the fun is. Because gunite takes any shape, we can cut a tanning ledge exactly where the afternoon shade falls, wrap a spa into a raised wall, drop a plunge pool into a courtyard that would defeat a fiberglass shell, or run a vanishing edge if the lot has the fall for it. You get a 3D design of your actual yard first, with the deck, the equipment pad and the barrier drawn where they will really go, because the barrier is not an afterthought in this county.
Here is when you should not buy this. If what you want is a rectangle of a standard size, you are in a hurry, and your lot has crane access, a fiberglass shell will get you swimming in two or three weeks for less money and less rock removal. Gunite earns its premium when the shape matters. We pull the Miami-Dade permits, coordinate the inspections, and run our own crews start to finish. Figure 8 to 12 weeks. Se habla español.
With 15+ years of experience, our licensed and insured team brings the right materials and equipment to every job — gunite and shotcrete shells, Diamond Brite quartz interiors, marcite plaster, PebbleTec pebble finishes, keystone and coral stone coping, glass mosaic waterline tile — and backs the work with a written workmanship warranty. Materials, equipment and how we do gunite & shotcrete pool construction
The difference between gunite & shotcrete pool construction that lasts and gunite & shotcrete pool construction that gets redone in three years is almost always preparation and materials, not the finish you see on day one. We work with gunite and shotcrete shells, Diamond Brite quartz interiors, marcite plaster, PebbleTec pebble finishes, spec them to the job instead of to the invoice, and write the material grades into the free estimate so you know exactly what you are buying.
Every Hialeah job runs the same way: site walk and measurements, written scope and fixed price, protection of the surrounding area, then the work itself with a daily clean-up. 15+ years of pool work in Miami-Dade County means we have already met whatever your property is going to throw at us — awkward access, older construction, an HOA with opinions.
